Initially, I created the Blam Blam beauty balm as a cleanser but it’s become an essential part of my self-care ritual every evening.
I have been a fan of cleaning my face with oil, essential oils and a warm face cloth after being introduced to the method at health retreat south of Sydney. The experience was a gift to myself for working the night shift as a nurse in a busy ICU over Christmas. It seemed like a very indulgent thing to do, and it was the first alone holiday I ever had. But it was also the start of a slow realisation that self-care is not only OK but essential.
The beauty of gentle cleansing
Agnes & Me’s Blam Blam Balm is a combination of the oil and the essential oils in one container. The oil removes impurities and makeup without depleting the skin’s natural oil, making it an effective but much less damaging cleanser.
The wisdom of a gentle cleanser became especially clear to me during my time as the lead coordinator of a Ministry of Health hand-hygiene initiative for a major DHB a few years after I arrived in New Zealand.
A big part of my role was to understand the barriers to cleaning hands and help staff change practices. One of the major objections people have about hand cleaning is the damage done to the skin. Cleansing is the most harmful part of our skincare routines, so an effective-yet-gentle product is key.
It was also in this role that I came to properly understand the detrimental effects of many commonly used cleansers, including soap, on our body’s natural acid mantle. I no longer work as a nurse, but I am extremely thankful for the knowledge.
The balm is more than just a cleanser. It’s an authentic multi-use product; a face mask that works while you sleep, an all-over moisturiser, a hand, foot, cuticle and dry skin treatment, a hair texturiser and is perfect for travel.
Much, much more than a cleanser
This is a nourishing, repairing, multi-purpose wonder-worker. Created with beautiful antioxidant-rich oils and butters, including organic rosehip oil, to assist skin rejuvenation and healing. Anti-inflammatory organic hemp seed oil, evening primrose oil and blended essential oils also soothe, soften and hydrate. And it smells sensational.
Try it (with a hot face cloth) as a luxurious facial cleanser, or as an overnight face mask. It’s an all-over moisturiser, hand, foot, cuticle and dry-skin treatment, and hair texturiser. It will tame eyebrows and corral flyaways. And because there are so many benefits in one pot, it makes a perfect travelling companion.
